Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is located nearby Lower Antelope Canyon, or 15-minute drive from Page, AZ. It’s the beginning of Grand Canyon National Park. Hike is 3/4-mile from parking lot to the beautiful overlooking area of Horseshoe Bend. The overlook area is formations of amazing limestone and with sand on the limestone the area gets slippery and dangerous.

As we climbed the top of a rock, we overlooked at the edge of steep cliff canyon. The fantastic view over the Colorado river was mind-blowing. As much as we were happy overlooking the view of horseshoe bend and the amazing horseshoe shape of Colorado River it was scary drop. The cliff is around 1000-1200 feet deep, and you can see clear view of the Colorado river.

The most spectacular view of Colorado River is only if you seat and lean over the cliff. Leaning over the cliff is scary especially walking on the edge is dangerous because of sand on the rocks.

You can walk around the area, hike small hill and see the view of river from different angles. This place is small wonder and has become one of the highlights of the trip.

We visited Horseshoe Bend during midday still the place was beautiful place. Best time to go is at sunrise or sunset.
